WELCOME TO THE POSTGRADUATE STUDY AT THE INSTITUTE OF COUNSELLING

The Institute is open to students of all beliefs and backgrounds who are interested in the study and application of counselling.

The Institute is an independent organisation located on the campus of the Australian Catholic University in Strathfield. The Institute has access to many university facilities, details of which are provided to students upon enrollment.

All courses at the Institute are conveniently offered in part-time mode, one evening per week, including some Saturdays. Lectures commence at 6pm, and group work at 8pm following a half hour dinner break. The classes then conclude at 9:30pm.

THE INSTITUTE OF COUNSELLING IS COMMITED TO THE FOLLOWING VALUES AND PRINCIPLES.

  • Create and maintain a level of excellence in contemporary counselling and group work training to ensure quality of service relevant to the needs of consumers.
  • Respond to the professional development needs of staff.
  • Generate alliances with universities and other providers of higher education in the field of counsellor education.
  • Provide courses in counselling education relevant to the needs of the wider community.
  • Maintain and improve the financial viability of the Institute.
  • Create and maintain an organisational working evironment that is efficient, safe, just and flexible.
