ACCREDITED COURSES The Institute offers five courses, all accredited within the Higher Education sector. There are two generalist and three specialist awards. The courses are designed to suit students from varied backgrounds: nursing, welfare, teaching, law, medicine, psychology and social work - among others. Most entrants are mature-age.The Courses are: Graduate Certificate in Counselling (1 year, part-time) Graduate Diploma of Counselling (2 years, part-time) Graduate Diploma of Counselling (Drug and Alcohol) (2 years part-time) Graduate Diploma of Counselling (Child & Adolescent) (2 years part-time) Master of Counselling (Child & Adolescent) (3 years part-time) Short Courses Study & Writing Skills Workshop FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ON THE COURSES OFFERED click here The Graduate Certificate in Counselling and the Graduate Diploma of Counselling have recently been re-accredited in the Higher Education sector for a further five years, having been strongly commended by the review panel. The Graduate Diploma meets all requirements for training set by the peak registration body, the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). The Institute has close links with PACFA - the current Director is a member of its Ethics Committee and PACFA's current President has a staff role at the Institute. The courses in Drug and Alcohol Counselling and Child and Adolescent Counselling are new for 2010. They will be taught by highly qualified and experienced staff, leaders in their fields. A year-long Internship in Group Work is available on application to successful Institute graduates. It is a unique opportunity to gain clinical experience under supervision, working towards registration and professional clinical status as an accredited counsellor.
